Wexford Pride & TITE on Tour

Wexford Pride is excited to partner with TITE (Trans Image/Trans Experience) Film Festival to bring an exciting programme of 6 trans-led short films to Wexford Art’s Centre on Friday 13th February.

TITE (trans image/trans experience) is Ireland’s first festival of trans and non-binary cinema. Through screenings of short and feature films from Ireland and the international trans filmmaking community, TITE aims to shift the focus of trans film from representation to craft, championing trans and non-binary filmmakers and fostering lasting connections between artists and audiences.

Wexford Pride is excited to partner with TITE to bring these films to a new Wexford, creating a powerful opportunity to celebrate trans stories, filmmakers and creativity. In 2024, Wexford Pride held it’s first ‘Pride on Screen’ event ‘Queer Voices, New Stories’ bringing together LGBTQIA+ film-makers to explore new narratives addressing LGBTQIA+ identity and experiences from LGBTQIA+ life in rural Ireland, to the power and importance of community spaces and, the politics of belonging when negotiating society through multiple marginalised lens. Bringing TITE’s programme of trans-led short films to the South East is a next step in celebrating trans, non-binary and gender non conforming film-makers across genres through an eclectic programme of short-films.

TITE has curated a new touring programme of six Irish trans shorts representing the brilliance of Irish trans film, from a soft touch of romance to the cutting edge of horror to bring to audiences across the country.

The program features six compelling short films, including the romantic awkwardness of Night Glances (2024, dir. Sam Ahern), the stop-motion charm of Colour Me Pink (2024, dir. Anika O’Hagan-Ploug), and the pandemic-era intimacy of Dirty Talk (2024, dir. Eva Wyse). The lineup boldly ventures into satire with Daisy: Prophet of the Apocalypse (2023, dir. Venus Patel), psychological tension with Terratoma (2024, dir. Liadán Roche) and a charged, confrontational encounter in Glory, Hole (2024, dir. Hiram Harrington). Together, these works showcase the vital diversity and creative power of contemporary trans-led cinema.

Throughout film and cultural history, trans and queer narratives have too often been shaped by and reduced to caricatures, shock value, or comedic punchlines. These enduring stereotypes have profound real-world consequences, fueling social stigma and discrimination toward trans and gender non-confirming people. The current small but vocal efforts to curtail trans people’s rights today is a direct echo of that harmful legacy.

“Authentic representation requires trans creativity both in front of and behind the camera. It is vital to support spaces that foster queer creativity, elevate trans voices, and champion community-driven storytelling.” — Rían Browne (he//him, Wexford Pride Committee Member)

TITE (Trans Image/Trans Experience) on Tour x Wexford Pride Programme

  • Romantic realisations between two best friends turn awkward when classmates and crushes call over to an end-of- school party – but the chaos of misunderstanding leads to a hazy truth.

  • A stop-motion music video for the indie-pop song ‘Colour Me Pink’ by K E L, depicting a heartwarming story of young queer love.

  • On the quest for intimacy in the middle of a global pandemic, Tar and Anna meet for the first time in the hopes of having a socially distanced hook up – no touching, just (attempted) dirty talk.

  • A radical trans street preacher and her followers prophesy the end of the world with salvation only for those who condemn heterosexuality. Men must be women! Women must be men! All intercourse must be interracial! PRAISE HER!

  • Two gay men, one cis and one trans, clash at a nightclub glory hole when one tries to castrate the man he believes raped him.

  • Trying to recreate a traumatic relationship, Alice begins an invasive and deeply personal film project, dragging her loved ones into the film and destroying their relationships for her art.
